Following months of planning and design, Kilkenny Chamber launched the new Medieval Mile Pass last month during a Business Lunch in the Kilkenny River Court Hotel. There was a large attendance by the business community in Kilkenny and the event also featured guest speaker Colette Byrne, CEO Kilkenny County Council who gave an update on the Abbey Creative Quarter and how it is envisaged that it will link in with Ireland’s Medieval Mile.
John Hurley CEO of Kilkenny Chamber said “Last year saw the launch of Ireland’s Ancient East which encourages visitors to the South East region and our Medieval Mile Pass fits very neatly into this space. We are very excited about this new initiative and it promises to be a huge support to an already vibrant tourism dynamic in Kilkenny. It will help attract more visitors to the city and also give them more reasons to stay longer, all of which is great for Kilkenny.”
The Pass is designed for tourists and visitors to the city to help them discover the history and culture of Kilkenny. It’s a simple sightseeing card that acts as your ticket into Kilkenny’s best attractions. With this Pass, the holder gets free admission into Kilkenny Castle, Rothe House, Smithwick’s Experience, St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny Hurling Way, Kilkenny Cycling Tours, Castle Express Train, Kilkenny City Tours Train and Kilkenny Ghost Tours. You also get discounted prices at a selection of cafes and restaurants along the mile and a free map of the Medieval Mile showing where everything is located.
